FLAUTIST
Even as a teenager Walter Feldmann organized well-attended public concerts with a trio (flute, cello and piano) that was well established. He was a flautist in various orchestras, which shaped and had a lasting influence on him and made him acquainted with new music, as well as large orchestral works – Youth Orchestra of European Countries (Jeunesse Musicale), International Youth Symphony Orchestra Blue Lake (Michigan), Orchestre de chambre d'Aix-en-Provence, Zurich Academic Orchestra, Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. Several times he was guest flutist at the Serenata Basel (today Basel Chamber Orchestra) and at the Ensemble S Zurich. Since 1998, he has been a member of the ensemble les joueurs de flute. From 2000 to 2004 he worked – as a composer and flautist – with the choreographer Gabriel Hernández (tHEL danse Paris) and with Odile Auboin (Viola, Ensemble Intercontemporain). Since 2015 he has been playing in a duo with the pianist Ludovic Van Hellemont.
Feldmann performed a special concert series on 13 weekend evenings during the 2020 corona pandemic:
Three moments:
June 2012, Lviv (Ukraine): he played the calm, atmospheric alto flute solo in the fourth movement "Meditation" of Ivan Pakhota's Symphony No. 1"Synthesis".
